OVO’s Charge Anytime add-on is compatible with most electric cars and home charge points. The Charge Anytime add-on allows EV drivers to smart charge their car for just 7p per kWh - that’s around 2p per mile!
What is OVO Charge Anytime?
OVO Charge Anytime uses smart tech which means you always smart charge your car at the greenest times, at a super-low rate. Plus, you can see how much money you’re saving with Charge Anytime credits. The app automatically charges your car when rates are lowest, costing just 2p per mile.
You could power your EV for as little as £200 per year. Enjoy flexible, app-controlled charging with no time limits, and power your car when the grid is greenest.*
How does OVO Charge Anytime work?
To access OVO’s Charge Anytime add-on you must be an OVO home customer. Once you’re signed up to OVO you can add Charge Anytime to your OVO plan for free and save up to £440 a year when you smart charge your EV from home.
Connect your EV or charger with your OVO account and opt-in for smart charging. Check compatibility here.

Set your EV to charge
OVO adds Charge Anytime credit to your bill each month. Your bill will reflect the smart charging rate of 7p per kWh.

Affordable EV charging
Charge for 7p per kWh any time you smart charge your EV. This works out to be 2p per mile, which is 80% less than the price of petrol.
If you need your car urgently, you can override your smart charging schedule with the Charge Now function.

Set the time you need to charge - OVO’s smart technology will determine when to charge your EV.
Add Charge Anytime to your energy plan. All you have to do is plug in and save. You can also monitor everything in the OVO app!

Am I eligible for OVO Charge Anytime?
You must have a compatible electric car or home charge point, a smart meter and an OVO account. If you're an OVO customer, simply log in to your account to check if your set-up is compatible. And if you're not with OVO, you can still find out if your set-up is compatible before you switch.

OVO smart tech aims to charge your car when the grid has more renewable energy in it, within the time you’ve set. Meaning it’s less likely your EV will be charged by energy from fossil fuels. For full details about Charge Anytime, read through the full terms and conditions.

The 2p a mile claim is based on an EV customer driving the UK average of 7,000 miles at an average of 4 miles per kWh. The Charge Anytime add-on rate on 01/01/2024 is 7p per kWh. Actual sum per mile is 1.75p. Individual costs will vary based on your vehicle efficiency and driving style.
The less than £200 claim is based on an average Charge Anytime customer using 2700kWh a year to charge their EV using the Charge Anytime add-on. The rate on 01/01/2024 is 7p per kWh for Charge Anytime. Actual amount for driving for a year is £189. Individual savings will vary based on your vehicle efficiency, driving style and EV charging usage.

You need to have a compatible EV and Smart Charger to join OVO Charge Anytime. You only need either a compatible EV or smart charger, not both. This can be viewed on OVO's website here.
